Trained specifically in the area of Marriage and Family Therapy, I specialize in relationship issues. I bring life experience to my training, as I am married and a mother of three now adult children. I am passionate about helping people find new and healthy ways to do relationships. My motto, personal growth, better communication, healthy relationships, reflects my goals for myself and those I work with. For the past 25 years, I have worked serving families in a number of capacities. With a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, I am a fully licensed Registered Clinical Counsellor in the province of BC. I have lived on Vancouver Island for the past 18 years and love calling the island my home.
A bulk of my private practice is dedicated to marriage counselling. I have a lot of experience, training and knowledge working with issues that affect couples, like infidelity, sexuality, and communication.
It is not always possible or advisable to attend counseling with the person or person’s whom you are having difficulties with. Alternately you may be aware that your personal issues are getting in the way of living the kind of life you want. Individual counseling can help you discover better ways to cope.
In addition to marriage counselling I provide counselling for individuals around abuse, anxiety, depression, self esteem and adult parent child relationships.
Caroline sees clients Friday afternoon and evening as well as Saturdays. Seeing a counselling intern is more affordable as fees are determined by the clients ability to pay.
What began almost 20 years ago as a passion for sharing prenatal, birth, and parenting experience/education, has morphed over the years into a passionate desire to explore the roots of conflict in relationships. After more than a decade of home schooling my children, I returned to school to complete a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology. Through both my life experience and education, I've been offered untold hours of practical, hands-on experience and active discussion in the area of children, youth, family and community relationships. My own particular interest in Marriage and Family Therapy began with the dissolution of my own marriage, and the recognition that a firm foundation in believing your relationship will survive life's challenges is not enough: We need skills and tools also.
I have lived in the Comox Valley for more than 13 years where I continue to raise my two teenagers, I teach prenatal education though the Vancouver Island Health Authority, and I am an accredited counselling volunteer with the Courtenay Options for Sexual Health clinic. Additionally, I have experience with peri-natal loss, youth counselling, infidelity, family transitions through separation and divorce, and grief work.
Virginia's Reimer's motto, “personal growth, better communication, healthy relationships”, is one that suits me well, and I am delighted to be able to augment my existing experience through a practicum with her.
